While SNMP was effective for network monitoring and capacity planning, it didn’t provide detailed insight into bandwidth usage. Before NetFlow, network engineers and administrators used Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for network traffic analysis and monitoring. The NetFlow protocol is used by IT professionals as a network traffic analyzer to determine its point of origin, destination, volume and paths on the network. The NetFlow data is then analyzed to create a picture of network traffic flow and volume - hence the name: NetFlow. NetFlow is a network protocol system created by Cisco that collects active IP network traffic as it flows in or out of an interface. Our Fortinet didn't want to play nice without some time spend tweaking things and contacting ME for some additional support.Gain visibility and control What Is NetFlow? CONSĬan be a little difficult to configure with some firewalls. ![]() I have a lot more capability that our agency did prior to switching to ME products. ME just gives you SOOO much within their software. So either you get the stand-alone software or you buy the whole suite, but they function the same.Overall Features. ![]() Either just some data and feature sharing via API, or fully being integrated into another larger product like Netflow is with Opmanager. Nearly everything ME puts out talks with their other products in some way. Manageengine is very competitive with their pricing and their software performs as well as, or better than competitors multiple times more expensive. The integration as made things so much easier for our Network Admins to go to one place and get all the info they need on our network health. ![]() Overall we are glad we get it as an addon to the greater Opmanager product that we purchased.
